The Cannon
The Cannon was originally used in defense of Fort Morgan, AL during the Civil War. Today, it stands at the intersection of Houston St., Government St., and Old Government St. serving a whole new purpose. At the root of one of Mobile's greatest traditions, this cannon is either painted orange or blue, depending on the outcome of the annual football game between Midtown Mobile High Schools McGill-Toolen and Murphy.
